Periscope Pro

Periscope Pro is a recently released application that can add all the bells and whistles of a modern video surveillance system to your Mac. Periscope works by using your built-in camera (or an external USB camera) to record video constantly while activated, or only when motion is detected. Periscope also has Dropbox support, so you can upload recorded footage to the cloud in the event the Mac is destroyed or stolen. Let’s take a look at some of the features available:

Most surveillance systems can run you hundreds of dollars, but if you’re interested in doing minimal monitoring (keeping an eye on the kids while you’re out, checking in on the baby while he/she is sleeping, or recording the face of your home intruder) Periscope is a good solution. Most Macs today come equipped with HD cameras that can pick up great video and audio quality, making them a perfect companion for Periscope. Additionally, Logitech features great USB cameras that can record full HD video and audio. Periscope is available in the Mac App Store and goes for $20.
